What seems to be the case is that caffeine can cause problems with insulin, but coffee can help reduce your risk of diabetes (there is more potential for this with men, however).

Hope this helps.

Caffeine might work by stimulating the adrenal glands, which revs up the body’s fight-or-flight response. This “fight or flight” response causes the body to release sugar into the blood as muscle fuel. If you don’t use this sugar, the sugar triggers a release of insulin. This leads to temporary signs of a condition called insulin resistance. As well as making weight loss more difficult, some experts believe that insulin resistance increases can your risk of both type II diabetes and heart disease.

So De caffinated may be the best bet . But I would also , being you are insulin resistant , act as if I was diabetic. And catch this disease in the Bud. At least delay it’s onset. Maybe forever.

Here’s what I would do :
There are 4 key steps to controlling glucose levels :

1) EXERCISE- Walking is fine but Nordic Walking is Great. Exercise also lowers Glucose levels , lowers Cholesterol and lowers Blood Pressure. Google it.Exercise is Non-Negotiable !!!Thats why it is Number 1 on the list.
2) Knowledge- http://www.phlaunt.com/diabetes/index.ph… This is a great site for info
3) Meds. Metformin to start.Never , ever take Actos or Avandia. They may kill you. Bone fractures, heart problems and what diabetics really don’t need is that they change Bone Stem Cells to Fat Cells. Also never ever take Onglyza or Januvia . They can can inhibit the bodys immune system and let cancer spread.
4) Diet- A low carb diet is in order. I can’t count carbs so I use Mendosa’s Glycemic Index Diet. Great for the whole family. http://www.mendosa.com/gilists.htm

Yes , metformin is great for Pre diabetics.
Start today and don’t forget the ddaily exercise .Then you can enjoy your coffee, the real thing.

Take care
